Bronx Zoo Oct 2008

Jungle World
This jungle has certainly held up very well over the years. It is definitely not the best, but it still one of the better rainforest buildings in the world.

It was even more amazing when there were 4-5 huge gharials in pool shown in the photo. Now, the turtles, giant fish and occasional views of flying foxes and gibbons on the forest above are nice, but not as incredible a "finale" as it used to be. I still think the overall feel is better than any other zoo's tropical forest with the exceptions of Burgers' Bush and Zurich's Masoala.

I totally agree - and I dd see the gharials in there...
I also agree with Masoala, not with Burger´s - this building is not well designed for crowded visitor numbers...

Also, Jungleworld simply appears to be much more naturalistic than Brookfield Zoo's Tropic World. The sheer fakeness of Tragic World can be offputting for hardcore zoo fans, although I'm sure that most Chicago residents just love to see all of the various primates.
