At least it's naturalistic - Columbus's exhibit is probably one of the worst (I love my zoo but that exhibit could have been so much better!)
@snowleopard - They filled the tiger quoll exhibit with two feet of dirt for the male to dig through! That and the kiwi exhibit are the only ones with substrate. Two down, five to go!
@ColumbusZoo001: so the tiger quoll is still alive and well? I'm glad to hear about the natural substrate, and anything natural in a zoo is fantastic in my book!
Yes he is still going strong - he should be back on exhibit soon. If only we could add substrate to the fishing cat, civet, tree kangaroo, and mixed species exhibits, Roadhouse would be even better!
@snowleopard - I have some good/bad news about your favorite Australia exhibit at the Columbus Zoo. Apparently, they want to keep an eye on the tiger quoll so they have moved our echidna into that exhibit permanently. At least he can be in that exhibit 24/7 instead of radom exhibitions at Koalas. Also our Common tree Shrew died so the "mixed species" exhibit has only two Prevost Squirrels. However I talked to some keepers and they mentioned because the building is nearly empty we should see the arrival of some new exotic species!
