Hmmm...I see one gorilla sitting there perhaps contemplating its life, but where are the other 15-20 apes? The Bronx Zoo's exhibit is so lush, large and stupendous in every sense of the word that one has to check out all of the numerous viewing opportunities to spot the elusive great apes. Should I stop gushing over this exhibit? It is something that blows away so many other zoo enclosures, and a full decade after its creation no other zoo has created a gorilla habitat that is anywhere near as good, or has raised anything close to the amount of money that the Bronx Zoo has donated to conservation causes in central Africa.

You've mentioned the fundraising thing before - while it's certainly an impressive amount of cash raised by all accounts it's an odd thing to praise the exhibit for - very few zoo exhibits that I have seen would be able to quantify how much that exhibit had raised becuase they don't have a blanket entrance charge! Most zoo exhibits don't have individual fundraising pots, so there's not really anything we can compare it to!
I was recently informed there's no indoor viewing of this exhibit? Surely a design flaw in NYC's climate. Otherwise, looks a very nice exhibit. New York's certainly high on my intercontinental wish list!

I was mistaken about the lack of indoor viewing, it's just not apparent to the visitor unless the gorillas are using the indoor area. I've never seen pictures of it so I'm not sure how good it is, people who have say it's pretty nice, but obviously a big step down from the outdoor exhibit, which is to be expected.
