The Bronx Zoo has so many amazing exhibits and this is all they could do for their Alpacas and other domestic species? They may be domestic, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a nicer exhibit.

It seems like the domestic/farm animals always get poor exhibits, because they're not as "majestic" or "beautiful" or whatever.

It's sad. I know they shouldn't be the main focus of a zoo but that doesn't mean that they should be treated as less valuable. I mean I'm sure they're taken good care of by their keepers, but the exhibit could be a lot better for them

Yeah, imagine the outrage if an okapi, or mongolian wild horse, or somother exotic hoofstock was kept in this exhibit.

I agree with both of you, even though they are domestic animals doesn't mean that can't have at least a decent enclosure.

If this is what I didn't want to pay $5 for (and thus didn't see, they charge that for their children's zoo) then it seems I didn't miss much. Although I understand that a few things went there from the 'World of Darkness' when it closed; the Fennec Fox for instance; anything else? Kind of a shame, I didn't see any others in the other 25 American zoos I visited.

Surprisely enough, the Bronx Zoo's children zoo was in America's Best Zoos top 10 Children's Zoo.

Just out of curiosity, what would you do?

Imagine if two Vicuna or Guanaco were kept in this exhibit. It would get a real blasting from zoochatters.

And just out of curiosity, do these animals live here permenantly? I know some zoos get animals from farms that just go on display while they're cute and young and then when they get old they're shipped back to the farm.

Well personally I think that a nice sized grassy or sandy yard would work. It doesn't have to be huge, just big enough so that the animals have a good amount of space to move around and escape the attention of the crowd, yet small enough so that the visitors can come in contact with the animals and so that it does not take up a lot of space that could be used for another species. As well I think that there should be either a big central barn, like in Columbus, or a barn a little bigger than the one shown, but allows the animals to be shielded from the elements from all sides.
