Former Asiatic Elephant exhibit at Zoo Center on historic Astor Court. Zoochat member Reduakari has noted that since the elephants left, it housed camels for a while, and now they seem to be starting to use it again, this time for Indian Rhinoceros, which can also be seen at Wild Asia.
Former Asiatic Elephant exhibit at Zoo Center on historic Astor Court. It has been vacant since the elephants moved to Wild Asia a few years ago, at least there was a sign to that effect.
This is another view of the same exhibit space that in your other photo is labeled as housing Indian Rhino. For a while after the elephants moved out of this exhibit, there were camels here (yawn). Don't know why the rhino was inside the Zoo Center building when you were there.

Regarding the Indian Rhinoceros inside the Zoo Center, I wish I knew why it is there. If they had been bringing in a new animal for Wild Asia, surely they would let it adapt over at Wild Asia. Or what? All I could find was a sign saying that it had just arrived at the zoo but not why. So as the former elephant exhibit had been marked for rhinos, I assume that from now on they can be seen in two locations at the Bronx Zoo.
