November 3rd, 2012: As I walked torwards Baboon Reserve, I heard screams coming from the Geladas. When I finally got there, the noise and action died down a bit, but there was still a stand-off between this male and three other males.
November 3rd, 2012: As I walked torwards Baboon Reserve, I heard screams coming from the Geladas. When I finally got there, the noise and action died down a bit, but there was still a stand-off between this male and three other males.
Yes, they had a very large group, and the screams and hoots were very dramatic. They're a very lively group, and Somba Village (the resturant right next to Baboon Reserve) provides excellent views while you eat decent food. Unfortunately, Somba Village was closed yesterday.
awesome. I need to get back there. You're right, nice views. I'm glad you braved it on the day it re-opened after Sandy. Great Zoo. Very large. Not the best place to have toddlers in tow, but they manage.
During my last visit one of the males started chasing another one which caused the rest of the troop to run, which cause the ibex to stampede, which caused to hyrax to take cover in their burrows, which caused the teal to swim to the back (or I guess the front) of the exhibit. Oh I wish I had video-taped it!
