I guess one will be for komodo dragons and one for aldabra tortoises. I just miss the lushness of the yards before and hope it is replanted.

Though you can't really see it here there were some trees getting ready to be planted in here. I would think they'd make it all lush again.

I would say the landscaping as it stands, perfectly replicates the natural habitat of both giant reptiles.
 
But the problem is the sight lines with the lack of plants as there were in the old exhibits. You can see straight across the exhibit.
 
Why? Lush doesn't portray either of those species natural ranges.

Neither does a huge Beaux Arts style building, but that is what one will see. Sometimes you have to respect where you really are, it cannot be avoided.
