Does anyone know what this cage might\'ve been used for? Only two tinamous were in the cage. My best guess is that they were new to the exhibit and were being quarantined.

Seems like ineffective quaratine if the birds are sharing the same exhibit, albeit separated by plastic mesh. My guess would be that it's to keep the guiras away from the tinamou for some reason, perhaps a medication intended only for the tinamou. Or maybe to protect any eggs/chicks from predation by the guira, although this seems less likely as there doesn't appear to be any eggs inside there.

it won't be quarantine. Perhaps as said above it is because the tinamous are being given some sort of medication. More likely is that the two tinamous are new to the exhibit and the separation is to allow the exisiting birds to get used to them before they get introduced (it looks like there is another tinamou outside the cage, on the far end).

Whoa! Tremendous misuse of words on my part. I didn't mean to put "Quarantine cage". I didn't need to say "and were being quarantined" either, as all I'd needed to say had been said. Thanks for the explanations/suggestions, and sorry for throwing 'quarantine' out there! :o

This cage is put into the exhibit when one of the tinamous are nesting like fkalltheway said. When I visited, there were chicks in this cage.
