Insect-wise, I think my first Rhinoceros Beetle in the Solomons was really cool because I had heard about them for years but never seen them. For that reason I'd also love to see wild Dung Beetles and Goliath Beetles too. And there are colourful beetles everywhere in the world, but usually disappear before I can get my camera to them (the one in the photo above was actually quite irridescent, but much of that is lost in the photo). Some years ago I found a large Swift Moth in my backyard - giant green thing the size of my hand coolo and beautiful. But the coolest thing I ever saw wasn't an insect but a spider, shaped like a giant ant, in New Guinea 27 years ago. Shame I don't have photos of it.
