Has the World of Birds always had such geographically mixed exhibits? I always figured with such attention to set design and detail in the exhibits, that they would have been geographically sound as well.
I'm not entirely sure. You make a very good point; I think the mixes are fairly recent moves, and most likely temporary (for some), as a number of changes had occurred in between my last two visits.
The only thing that seems really out of place are the Montezuma Quail as everything else is African in origin. If you don't want to include Madagascar as a part of Africa (which I often don't) then the Grey-headed Lovebirds would be out of place as well. I thought they tried the lovebirds in with the lemurs? Maybe it didn't work out.

I don't recall the lovebirds ever being in Madagascar. But maybe that's just me. All I remember are the greater vasa parrots and some other bird... maybe it was the lovebirds... Ah, well.
The lovebirds were in the Madagascar! enclosure with the lemurs along with Lesser Vasa and Red Fody but none are in there currently. Though there is an unidentified dove (http://www.zoochat.com/547/id-388604/) and some Common Starlings for some reason.
As for this enclosure, there used to be an African Brush-Tailed Porcupine in here for a while. As of last Saturday (October 18, 2014), the species list was as followed:

Grosbeak Weaver (I believe, did not see them but they were listed on the signage)

Eastern Crested Guineafowl
