In my experience this guy's never seemed to phased by camera flashes, though very sensitive to noise as you mentioned. Still, you'd know more about the species than I. No harm was intended as I'm sure you know

He doesn't come out often due to noise so it's hard to get a long look at him if other people are in the vicinity of the enclosure. And just because people try taking photos of him with flash doesn't mean they turn out well. I can't recall other photos of him here on the forum and I'm not sure about elsewhere, but personally the biggest reason I've never gotten a better photo than this is because my camera's always focused in on the log he's currently under (which is at the front of the enclosure) and not the actual bird who, when out, is generally feeding in the center of the enclosure.
And again, noise as you said makes them a scarce sight in the first place. With patience he usually comes out eventually, though.
