Oh, you have seen that house ? I was there in 2005, the keepers call it " The Tragedy World ",and I know why...Its one of the most terrible Tropical houses I've seen in a zoo. Next year, I will see the Jungle World at the Bronx Zoo, but I have no big hopes, to see a good tropical house.
@Zebraduiker: Tropic World is completely plastic and concrete, but at times spectacular in terms of wildlife and the rainstorm. I was disappointed with the sheer "fakeness" of everything inside, and the orangs and gorillas have tiny exhibits that desperately need substrate. The Bronx's Jungle World is better, yet smaller, as it is far more realistic. Omaha's Lied Jungle has its flaws but in my opinion is easily the best of the trio.
Snowleopard and I have agreed to disagree on this: although Lied Jungle is larger overall, the actual animal spaces in Jungleworld (except the leopard) are bigger, and more importantly the illusion of rainforest is MUCH better in the Bronx. Just look at the fantastic buttress root trees in the photos of the silvered langur exhibit, compared with Omaha's "good enough for the midwest" efforts. But both are light years ahead of Brookfield's depressing TragicWorld.
