Aug. 2014 - Fragile Forest - Fragile Desert - Large-spotted Genet

I suspect these, or this, came from Cincinnati after we had three offspring born in 2012 and now only one remains/.

I am very excited to see one of my favorite species at Brookfield! Do you know when they came to the zoo or what this exhibit previously was?

If this is one of Cincinnati's then they may have came in 2012 (they were not there in 2013 though) and this previously held Dwarf Mongooses. The mongooses were moved or have always been in the Kopjie.

Thanks! Much better viewing at Brookfield than in Cincy. I love seeing genets in such bright lighting...even though that are nocturnal.

If you ever get the chance, the Ndutu Safari Lodge in Tanzania has excellent viewing of Common Genets (genetta genetta). They are seen climbing on the beams in the dining hall every night right before sundown.
