This giraffe/ostrich habitat is actually one of the best exhibits at the Brookfield Zoo, as it combines realism with fantastic visitor viewing opportunities.

It does indeed look nice:) I'm glad to see that they haven't ruined the lush grass by adding zebras or something like that.

The African Savannah section originally opened in 1934 as the Giraffe House, but then was renovated in the early nineties into its current appearance.

There was no African Savannah exhibit at the zoo until Habitat Africa was built. The original giraffe house was a typical giraffe/okapi house with typical yards attached. The old giraffe house was torn down to make way for Habitat Africa, and the okapi were moved to the conservation barn in the far corner of the zoo.

This is probably one of the better giraffe exhibits in North America, but there are also terrific enclosures at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The nation has no shortage of good giraffe exhibits! SDWAP, Disney, Brookfield, Cheyenne Mountain, Seattle, San Francisco, Toledo, Phoenix, Busch Gardens, Miami, Jacksonville, Nashville, Bronx, Binder Park, Caldwell and many more!

the ostrich don't share the habitat with the giraffes. In the pic there's the male calf Jewara, his mom Franny and 2 others

When this first opened in 1993 it was a mixed savanna with zebra and Bontebok or Topi or Hartebeest i can not remember.
