This is the new 2008 facility for this natural history museum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. It features the Steinhart Aquarium, Osher Rain Forest, and Morrison Planetarium. Also of interest to ZooChat viewers is the African Penguin exhibit.

Thats a pretty cool tank, tanks of that size and style would be great addition to the Georgia Aquarium, but such tanks are missing completly there.

This tank is supposed to be the deepest live coral exhibit in the world...I think it is 23 feet deep or so.

Very impressive..I will come back to san Francisco, maybe in three or four years. Do you have any pictures of the temporary Stainhart Aquarium in Howard Street ? I was in 2005 in San Francisco, but unfortunately, I didn't knew about the temporary aquarium, so I missed it.

The exhibit is larger than what can be seen through this one window...even though the window is huge (and curved in both directions!)

I did not take pictures of the temporary museum when it was open, it was understandably ugly.

It was closed before the new museum opened, I don't think there is anything inside it now, it was an older warehouse building.

As I understand it, the temporary CAS was simply that: a place to display some of the collection and to keep a public presence for the few years that the old site was being demolished and rebuilt. The temporary CAS has probably become a Starbucks! :D
