African Hall - Hunter's Hartebeest Diorama

July 15th, 2011.
Does anyone know of other major museums with Hunter's hartebeest on display? I would imagine that this pair are an extremely rare commodity!

Two others come to mind, The Field Museum in Chicago and The American Museum in NY. I'm not certain either one has them, but they have an extensive African section. The Los Angeles Zoo exhibited them for a time in the 80's and so did Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas.

According to Lydekker’s Catalogue of Ungulate Mammals in the British Museum (Natural History) (Volume 2) the type specimen of Hunter’s hartebeest is mounted in the Natural History Museum (London); this animal was donated to the museum by H. C. V. Hunter after whom the species was named.
