Brazos River Country - Black Bears

I'm sure that the bear exhibit is more impressive than what this photo suggests: a waterfall cascading down from some heavenly stream, mock-rock in the background, hotwire ranging around the grass, and one hell of a large brick wall in the foreground.

I honestly don't know what to make of this exhibit. Its weird. There are some great things like an underwater viewing area with cave/den. But the overall design is simply curious.

Does this mean from this position the bears are above visitor eye-level?

For most of the exhibit the bears are either at or above eye level.

I also don't know what to make of this exhibit, it is strange to me though probably cause it is nothing like I've ever seen, though I'm not saying it is bad.

It would also get rid of the old style pit aspect of most Bear enclosures.
I like the look of it, doesnt seem to go too over the top in my opinion.

My memory is that this is part of a bigger concept, traveling the length of the Brazos River. I don't remember whether the moat (and brick wall) represents a canal or similar. In any case, it is difficult to understand the concept for this enclosure taken out of the context of the larger exhibit.
