The Herpetarium at Cameron Park Zoo is excellent, and one of the 15 best reptile houses in the United States. What stops it from being outstanding is its relatively small size, but what is there is full of quality. The zoo opened in 1993 and almost every single exhibit is of at least average quality, with an outstanding addition called "Brazos River Country" added in 2005 that effectively doubled the number of species at the zoo.
