The existence of a central sea lion pool and the surrounding views are not new, but the pool itself is totally "new" (built from the ground up in 1988, along with everything else at Central Park Zoo). Not sure it qualifies as "historic," although it certainly references and celebrates the history of the previous zoo on this site.
