Well I know the junglefowl is very elusive (according to a keeper I talked to) and has been known to not be seen by anyone for days at a time. The Kagu I don't think anyone has ever seen.

It has 100 different species according to the annual report in a 6 acre site. They also have many rarities such as Chinese Merganser, Crested Coua, and a King Eider. The also claim to have the nations largest collection of Sea Ducks.

CPZ's recently-departed director (now at Toledo) came up as a bird curator. He added many species and beeeding successes to this collection. Will it last?

- I hope it does last. The zoo has little room for mammals and reptiles dont fit in thematically to most parts of the zoo so birds are a major group at the zoo. The childrens zoo now has a very nice collection now. The only thing is a lack of space for new exhibits at the zoo. The zoo should use the turtle pond area as it is the last area open for development. The zoo has a bird collection now that rivals its sister zoo in the bronx. The bronx just has more birds off exhibit. To complete there bird collrction I feel all they need is a bird of prey species such as stellars sea eagles in the arctic area or bald eagle in the temparate area.
