In October the zoo bulldozed this raccoon cage as well as a Moluccan cockatoo cage, which were the last two original structures from the 1937 opening. The Misunderstood Marvels building was also reduced to rubble in anticipation of the new "Deserts and Forests of the World" exhibit complex set to open in the zoo's 75th anniversary year: 2012.
