Is there anything to entice the lions to interact with the statue (e.g. does it dispense food, is it heated etc.)? It seems like an odd feature to install in an exhibit just for aesthetics.

The buffalo is used daily for a demonstration as I saw that posted somewhere, and I'm guessing that it is filled with food as I believe that the lions "attack" it at least once a day. The lion exhibit itself is brand-new, very steep and at the top there are heated rocks and in the winter apparently the cats head to the top of their sloped habitat and the viewing there is extremely close for visitors.
