1942 Monkey Pavilion - Hoffman's Two-Toed Sloth (outside) + Goeldi's Monkey

Aug. 13th, 2014.
Very unusual to see the sloth "exhibit" outside of the other exhibit, hanging on the front, strange, I am not sure if I like that concept to be honest.

Presumably there are barriers of some kind to keep visitors away from touching and bothering the sloth.

There is a short barrier (fence) that separates visitors from the primate exhibits and the sloth is out of reach of prying hands.

Barriers are one thing but also there is the aspect of welfare of the sloth.
If it only has this to climb on, or the cage front ?, that is not much good.

Doesn't it have that tree thing to climb on at the front? I know that it is not ideal but if it was behind mesh I dont think it would have drawn much attention. :p

The rope in the middle of the photo actually goes over the heads of visitors and when I visited I had the impression that the sloth could travel a considerable distance from its current location to a much farther tree branch.

The Goeldi's Monkey's also have access to the branching element in front of the cage (you can see the circular shift door in the photo) on which they can travel from one end of the corridor to the other. Not sure how often they allow them access though.
