Originally this exhibit was built to hold Red-shanked Doucs. Since the doucs are so sensitive and fragile, the exhibit was designed to allow the doucs to be easily monitored and to allow the doucs to have both a controlled indoor environment and an attached outdoor enclosure where the doucs could spend periods of time outdoors, which is something that has never seemed to work with Red-shanked Doucs.
