Festival of Lights 2011-Children's Zoo-Bennett's Wallaby nursery

Bennet\'s Wallaby exhibit. In here is Rocko, but i did not see Jaz, the other wallaby that is usually in the exhibit. The exhibit in the back was for a baby coatimundi.

What sort of exhibit is the nursery? Is it an area for baby animals that are being hand raised? Or are these areas their permanent displays? The animal spaces look a lot like pet shop displays.

They are displays for babies, but only babies that come to the zoo from other places. They are all trained to be in the interactive program, so go they on walks around the zoo a lot, so yes they are hand raised. Every year about one other animal comes in takes another one's place, but that has not happened this year. Baby penguins that are born at the zoo are put on display in here but that's about it.

Thanks for the reply. It makes a bit of sense now and I'm glad to here the animals get taken for walks around the zoo.

I forgot to mention this in my last update. That exhibit back there used to hold a baby coatimundi over 2011, as you can see, it is gone.
