It is not even Thanksgiving yet and they already have Christmas decorations up? Boy that drives me nuts (not just here but department stores and the like...)

I whole heartedly agree but the FOL begins in four days and they had to have put up over billions of lights around the zoo.. The zoo started pitting up decorations in early August.
I agree. It is a huge undertaking and there is no way to hold off until after Thanksgiving if it is to open in time for the Holidays.
Well, perhaps not unless they have 200 trained laborers ready to go on Friday morning and work 24/7. Even then, the lights throughout the zoo grounds require months to install.
That is technically true, but most of the lights are in the shrubs and trees. Turn them off and they disappear.
The more obvious things (like this tree) disappear rather soon after New Years.
What you do have most of the year is the dedicated crew that installs them, removes them, stores them, and then repairs them prior to re-installing them!
