I bet it was money issues. It's not like Treetops is a pointless building because that's where staff meetings are held but I too don't want it to be there. I really wish the zoo stuck with the original plans, it included olive baboons, meerkats, possibly klipspringers in a kopjie, a walk-through African aviary, more hoofstock, and more room for the hippos (the crocs weren't added).
Indeed, a warthog or bat-eared fox would've been more suitable. At least we can see cheetahs again without going to the encounter. Even when there aren't shows going on you can still see them but a fence stops you from seeing 75% of the exhibit.
