Sadly, I've never been to Cincinnati. It does seem to attract a level of criticism from some US chatters, yet it houses a mouth-watering number of rarities, such as this species.

Any North Americans feel able to comment on the issues here?

Didn´t know the species was kept in the USA ! Howmany are kept at Cincinnati ?

Bronx breeds this species.

- Yes i read online that the bronx zoo is the only zoo outside of asia to breed them. The bronx zoo houses them in a huge aviary with lots of perches. The only thing is for a rare species there is only 1 small window. They allow the birds to fly around which contributes to there breeding sucess. How is the exhibit here?

It's a pretty nice exhibit that is blended into a jungle. It's a medium sized aviary with a hut viewing. It can be difficult to see them sometimes because the back is filled with tall plants.

Here's the exhibit:

I love Bronx's enclosure for this species. It's fantastic and even has another rare species in it now: Brown Eared-Pheasant (though there wasn't a sign for it and I didn't see the storks the day I saw the pheasant in there).

I was quite unimpressed with the zoo's enclosure for this species actually. I expect a large aviary like Bronx's but found a small aviary with little to no room for flying.

Hmm... The foliage must have blocked my view of the whole enclosure as it's larger than I remember. Glad to see that my memory of it is flawed and that it's larger than I thought. I still think it's a bit small for two storks compared to Bronx.
