It may just be me but, based on size and numbers, wouldn't it make more sense for the Lions to be displayed in this larger enclosure and then for the wild dogs to be displayed in the Lion one?

No. This exhibit is in smaller square footage than the Lion exhibit. This picture is deceiving, it is large but not as large as it may seem in the photo.

The lion exhibit is 12,600 sq. ft. while this exhibit is 10,000, which is surprising because from Google Earth the wild dog habitat looks bigger. Just because it's there, the fox exhibit is 1,900 sq. ft.
