As originally being the Reptile House, the building was built in 1937 and later renovated in 1951 to hold hundreds of thousands of birds from all over the world. Over 50 feathered creatures from the Arctic all the way down to the Antarctic are displayed in habitats as natural as the outdoors. Every exhibit gives a close-up opportunity of every species in the building as well as two walk-through atriums where the birds are free-ranging, along with underwater viewing of aquatic birds.
The turaco has since moved to a nearby exhibit and the parrot has been taken off display. These two cages can combine and are also connected by the large Australia/Asia themed atrium, making them accessible to all of the animals that reside in there (atrium can be seen to the left in the back).
