The large-scale view of the entire park with the older version of the African Savanna plans. You can see the "African Village" is where Polar Frontier is now. Also, the South/Central America area has since been taken up by developments in the parking lot and the expanded entrance.
Also, if you want to go back even further, the golf course was originally purchased to be redeveloped as the African Savanna, but the final decision was made to keep the land as a golf course as an additional source of revenue (a similar story could be told about the purchase of Wyandot Lake, now Zoombezi Bay, though that might have been slated as a South/Central America area, if I remember correctly).
