Bonobo Exhibit

This exhibit is about half an acre (there are parts of the exhibit that aren't visible). The climbing structures in the trees allow the bonobos access to up to thirty feet off the ground. The Columbus Zoo currently has 8.7 bonobos.

This is the best bonobo exhibit in North America, and probably one of the greatest in any zoo worldwide. There are loads of hiding places for the apes, an amazing amount of vertical space, and all the enrichment that they could possibly desire. This exhibit would fit in well at Germany's Leipzig Zoo!

2nd best in my opinion. When I went those climbing structures in the front weren't there and there wan't as much grass as shown here in the photo.

If you feel like this is the second best bonobo exhibit around which zoos exhibit do you consider 1st.

I think this is the number 1 bonobo exhibit because the visitor path is very cool because there is a waterfall behind a viewing window alsso this exhibit is very good.

I can't tell you for sure why they were taken down but I think it had to do something with them taking some of the trees out. Here in Ohio we got hit really bad by the Ash borer bug and also a lot of the trees in the exhibit had to be trimmed. I CAN tell you that they just put in some more ropes just two days ago and there are a lot more ropes currently present than in the picture you posted.

I had a kind of disapointing day for primates both day I went to the columbus zoo. The bonobo exhibit was getting work done both days and the orangutans did not come into the main exhibit both days. On the upper hand I saw a baby gorilla climbing in the indoor exhibit.
