Oblong Turtle

09/06/2016
Chelodina oblonga? Haven't heard the name "Oblong Turtle" before.

~Thylo:cool:

I believe that name is not valid and the correct name for the species is Chelodina colliei however they are the same as far as I know. My reptile guide gives the common name of Oblong Turtle which I think is quite descriptive of the shape of the shell.

I think you'd be hard-pressed to find an Australian who didn't call them Oblong Turtles. At the least it is far more common than any other name.
