Orton's Boa

Rainforest Building- Orton's Boa (B. c. ortonii). September 21, 2014.
I thought this individual was a Red-Tailed Boa. At least that's what I heard from a keeper in the Rainforest building.

Their last ISIS report lists them as ortonii and I've always heard them referred to as such. Next time you go, check to see if the tail coloration is red or not as I believe ortonii lacks the red coloration. I know the zoo has two boas so maybe they have one of each.

I don't remember when ISIS shut down, but this particular boa went on exhibit in early 2012. They have only 1 boa in this enclosure. Often the snake's tail isn't visible due to her positioning, but I'll check it out next time.

Oh I thought they had a pair that alternated.
