The Olmense Zoo and cheetahs (Acinonyx jubatus jubatus) have a long history. The Olmense Zoo has kept cheetahs for many years, and has bred them several times. At one time, the Olmense Zoo even had a cheetah breeding center (in the area where the birds of prey and cranes are currently housed); the capuchin island used to hold cheetahs as well at one point. Recently, cheetahs were absent from the Olmense Zoo for a few years, until a pair recently arrived. They live in this enclosure. The outdoor area looks fairly ok
