Okapi Exhibit

It's great to see an okapi exhibit that is full of shade, although is there grass in this enclosure? It looks as if the habitat has some other type of substrate in it.
 
No, there is no grass in the okapi exhibits. The zoo has more than this one, but this is the only one which is visable to the vistors. It is a good exhibit for okapis, the success in keeping and breeding okapis at the Dallas Zoos speaks for itselfs.
 
Okapi dont need grass, they really shouldnt be eating it anyway. And Im still trying to figure out how Dallas got their 2:1 female to male ratio for Okapi births, the secret must lie in the oatmeal...
