Giants of the Savanna receives first trees

30\' tall trees arrive to give shade to elephants, etc.

Yes...Thursday. So far about 10 of these trees have been planted, with more coming in the weeks ahead.

Hard to say exactly, but this might show 20% of the savanna exhibit that the elephants have access to. Not including areas for giraffe contact, red river hogs, lions, etc.

Hard to think all of those pole in the front of the picture are already the main part of a building that wasn't there about a week ago.

Very exciting progress. They say it will open in "late spring" - should I assume that means they're shooting for Memorial Day weekend (end of May for our non-U.S. readers)?
