A Guidebook to the Habitats of the Wilds of Africa - 1988

This is the original concept for the WoA. A lot was changed. The Mountain Habitat was originally supposed to have been a large aviary. The River would have held a lot more animals. Leopards would have replaced the caracals. The Bush would have been visible on the Nature Trail. If this last part were to have been done, only the Woodlands, River, and Desert would have been visible exclusively from the Monorail. Instead, the Kojpe exhibit was added on the Nature Trail which is not included in the original design. The Forest Aviary, as per this design, was dramatically bigger and it looks like it would have been mandatory to walk through on the nature trail. The Forest Habitat is no more having been replaced by the Chimpanzee Forest. Again as per this design, that area would have been a lot different extending all the way to the Bush Habitat along the monorail. Instead there is a huge gap between these two exhibits. A second company (Jones and Jones) was working on the Gorilla Habitat so it is not given in detail. A Colobus Monkey exhibits was originally slated to be just below the number "1" on the map. The Monorail switch system is completely different. Also two barns seem to have never been built. I can only guess as to what these would have been for. One of them, my best guess indicates, would have been for hippos in the River.

All in all, an interesting what-might-have-been.
