It is very small, so only a few exhibits, but good for what is there. On the trip I posted this photo from (New Years 2011) I actually did not go inside. But I was there again last week (September 2011) and did go in. I will post a couple photos in a day or two.

Thanks AD. I am really wanting to visit this zoo. I don't think my wife would be supportive of a random trip to Dallas just to visit the zoo, so hopefully I can think of a good reason sometime in the not too distant future. I was looking through the Dallas Zoo photo gallery last night an the Africa exhibits look really fantastic. I also for some reason have become obsessed with seeing a tuatara and this is the only place in the US with one you can actually see.
The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is one of the major cultural centers of America, so trust me there is no shortage of things to do. I stayed in downtown Dallas right next to Union Station and just in the six blocks or so between my hotel and the West End restaurant district (a very hip former warehouse district) I walked past three museums. On the bus from the train station in downtown Fort Worth to the Fort Worth Zoo (also quite good) I passed what looks like a very impressive botanical gardens. The Fort Worth Stockyards (which I have not visited) is also supposed to be a very trendy tourist area. Plus tons of other museums and a Six Flags park if you are into that kind of thing. Also two major airports for easy access - the sprawling DFW Int'l (home base for American) and the more intimiate Love Field (home base for Southwest). Really no reason not to go.
