What is the size of this chimpanzee exhibit? Is it between 1.5-2 acres in size? It seems as if it would compare to the large size of the gorilla habitat at the zoo.
When I visited this zoo I thought the chimp exhibits were much better than the gorilla exhibits. The gorilla exhibits look great in photos, but in person they seem like pits of greenery surrounded by hot-wire. According to zoo-lex they are around 14,000 square feet, is this not correct? The Wilds of Africa tour is actually fantastic and rather relaxing, and Giants of the Savanna is one of my all time favorite exhibits, however the gorilla exhibit was not as good as I expected.
The gorilla exhibits are much bigger than the Chimp exhibit. The only hotwire in the gorilla exhibit is tree gaurds so that the gorillas don't damage the trees as well as perimeter hotwire.
