Mixed-Species Aviary

Aug. 13th, 2010.
Aug. 13th, 2010. Roseate spoonbill, scarlet ibis, scarlet macaw, Hawaiian goose, blue + yellow macaw, hyacinth macaw, great egret, boat-billed heron and oscellated turkey.

That's a nice mix, especially the three macaw species. One common zoo practice that I personally don't like is clipping macaw wings and sticking them on an island. Glad to see Dallas has them in a large free flight (and I presume they are not clipped, though maybe they are?).

This is bird valley, which is closed off now due to construction.

OK, thanks. Now I don't feel like I missed anything (except the bug house - I should have taken the time to run inside there).
