How old is the Tropics Hall? There is a lot of metal in all directions in many of the photos, with a surprising lack of foliage in comparison to other zoo tropical rainforest jungles.
Also, I have enjoyed glancing through the photos of this Belgian zoo but is there a review on its way?
I believe the Tropics Hall building was constructed 2009-2011, and it was opened in 2012. In all honesty, I didn't really notice that there was so much metal and such sparse vegetation when I was there, although I admit it shows in the pictures. I'm not sure this Tropics Hall was really intended as a jungle necessarily, some areas actually purposedly designed as desert (cacti). Also, again At the Zoo itself the vegetation didn't really seem sparse or thin, although perhaps somewhat smallish. Maybe one of the reason is that, while there are a lot of large herbaceous plants in the Tropics Hall, there aren't many trees and those that are there are still fairly small. I also believe the temperature regime in the Tropics Hall isn't the same year-round, with it being colder in winter (due to the cost of heating). Maybe those factos have something to do with it. Also, the roof is constructed in such a way that a lot of metal is always going to be visible.
I'm glad you've enjoyed looking at my Olmense Zoo pictures (I still have some 30 to add to this gallery). I noticed that, before, there wasn't a lot of material from the Olmense Zoo available at Zoochat, so I decided to do a very nice overview of the Olmense Zoo (admittedly, even if there had been, I might still have posted my pictures). I think I am actually go to write a review. It may be a few more days or maybe a week before I can get to doing so, but I am certainly planning to write a review!
