This exhibit, which includes two old-fashioned bear grottoes on the other side, would make a very interesting historical exhibit. HOWEVER, the fact that it is still in use as an allegedly acceptable animal "habitat" is a shame. (Of course I feel the same way about most of Denver, but I seem to be the only person on this forum who's not in love with that zoo, so we won't go there).
This exhibit once housed polar bears and sea lions....together! I believe the bear was blind, but that may not have kept nature from taking it's inevitable course.....
i agree that Predator Ridge and some aspects of Tropics and Primate Panorama are the only real highlight exhibits at the zoo--but what a collection.
It reminds me of some temple theme jaguar exhibits but it's a shame they still use it. The fact that the coatis wouldn't get any sun except in the early morning and late afternoon doesn't sound to attractive.

The "ruins" are based on ancient North American Indian shelters in the Southwest (Anasazi). Except at midday in the summer, there is plenty of sun reaching the exhibit. It's actually a pretty good space for coatis.
