Felines - Amur Tiger Outdoor Exhibit

The best enclosure at the ancient Feline House, but it is simply an old-fashioned grotto that is far too small for huge tigers.

This and the other outdoor grotto, which had striped hyenas, have huge back walls, and I think even deeper moat walls!

The Denver Zoo is truly a mix of new and old. The fairly recent developments (Predator Ridge, Primate Panorama, Tropical Discovery) were all built in the past 16 years and in my opinion are all excellent. Northern Shores and Bird World have some nice aspects to them, but then Bear Mountain (1918), the Feline building, hoofstock yards and pachyderm house are all ancient and badly outdated. The upcoming "Asian Tropics", if it ever gets built, should be another impressive addition to the zoo, and at 10 acres will take up a large chunk of the zoo's total area. This is still one of the most popular zoos in all of North America (close to 2 million visitors a year) and also one of the better ones in terms of animal collection and some of the newer exhibits.

This exhibit is now home to four tiger cubs Zaria, Akasha, Thimbu, and Nikolai. I was shocked when I herd she gave birth being that she was only at the Zoo for a little over a year.
