Asian Jungle - Bird Signs

Why is there a South American tinamou in here? Or a Pacific dove? or an African plover? Not even half of the species are from Asia.

Sorry people for the signing but this bird complex is all about breeding animal and not just showcasing animals so if they have a perfectly suitable exhibit that makes the animal happy than why don't they put it in there?

I agree that animal welfare is the most important part, but education is a major factor of a zoo's success. Its not good if people leave thinking some of these animals are from Asia. They could just change the name to "Jungle" or something and avoid a lot of confusion.

Absolutely. I'd have no problem at all with this mix of birds except that they then try to call it 'Asian Jungle'. I sometimes think zoos have become so convinced that only zoogeographic exhibits will do that they try to apply a geographic name to an exhibit that really doesn't need it.

Are there other animals in here besides the free-flying birds?

No there isn't any other animal in here besides the list you see. I agree with KCZoo Fan and Maguari. At first this exhibit used to be all asian: mostly smaller asian species like finches and large ground birds like pheasants. After time those species were shipped to different zoos or Denver didn't find the need to breed that specific species for there specific zoo. Even though these animals are not from the same area and some are not endangered, they play a big roll in this zoo. I'm not sure why the Egyptian Plover is breed so much at this zoo but again it has to play a big roll in the zoo itself.
If you have any more thoughts or questions I would be happy to answer. :)
