I've read that the gorilla habitat is a full acre in size, but does anyone know the dimensions of the orangutan exhibit? I am also curious as to how much time the gorillas are kept indoors during the long Denver winters...is there a Colorado resident that knows the answers?
There are two Gorilla packs. A large family and a bachelor group of two males. Sadly, when one group goes outside the other has to stay inside for the whole day. There are also two off site exhibits for both the Gorillas and the Orangutans. Usually the Orangutans will stay inside in colder weather but the Gorillas seem to be a bit more hardier. I've seen them briefly out in the snow. I do not know the exacted dimensions of the Orangutan enclosure but it seems they use the trees a little bit more than using the ground, unlike other Orangutan exhibits.
