Bird World - 1975 Building

Aug. 9th, 2012.
snowleopard, what is your impression of Bird World? From the photos it looks like the keas and several other species are in quite barren and small exhibits. This complex seems like an atypically outdated exhibit for this zoo.

Is that bush to the left of the sign on purposely bird shaped or am I the only one who can see it.

it's not a bush, it's ivy growing over the side of the building. And it isn't purposefully bird-shaped (it's a simulacra for you personally :D)

There are three decent walk-through sections but the rest of the exhibits range from average-sized to tiny. Overall I find such bird houses more like museums, with fake dioramas instead of living, breathing specimens. There isn't the dominant species list like there used to be, but considering the spacing issues perhaps that is a positive step in the right direction.

@PAT: I don't see any kind of bird in the ivy so it must have been late at night "down under" for birds to begin evolving from my photos!:)

I can see the shape as well, I think it's more of a happy coincedence rather than deliberate design though! :)

(And it's nearly 3 am in the UK snowleopard... :p)
