On the day of my visit the ostriches were being kept in a holding area near the rear of the exhibit, as the Somali wild ass (two brothers?) were fairly new additions to the zoo and were being allowed to settle. Interestingly enough there are very few Somali wild ass in North American zoos and yet they are quite energetic, dynamic species.
