It seems that you have some critiques for this new exhibit. Yes, there is a lot to still be done, as there is for any new exhibit. There is a breaking in period that needs to undergo for a logical exhibit to become complete and complex. This exhibit so far is complex but not yet complete, A process of elimination, if you will. In this case just figuring out what works and what doesn't or What needs to be added and fixed. This exhibit has only been open for 16 days to the public ( non-members ) so you could imagine a lot of problem solving and ideas are still shooting up.
Let this exhibit mature some more. Let the plants grow and the animals get used to their new enclosures. Let the keepers and planners experiment to see what else they could do to improve it even more.
Remember how Predator Ridge used to look? Yeah, not very good. But now it looks very natural and immersive and is one of the best lion exhibits in the country.
Just give it some more time and I promise you it will improve.
P.S. Live fish would be nice to see. I couldn't see them surviving for too long and they would really muck up the water as well but it still could work.
Thats interesting mweb08. I know that Toranga Zoo also has some fish in their outdoor fishing cat's enclosure. Time will soon tell if fish will make a permanent home here. if they do so then I hope plants are put in. Maybe liven up the exhibit as its mostly fake.
Its a shame that they do not have connected holding areas to allow rotation between the fishing cats and asian small-clawed otters. In fact, this looks like a much better suited habitat for the otters, whilst the fishing cat would probably be a better candidate for the otter exhibit !
