White Rhino Exhibit - Detroit Zoo

July 2008.
The old elephant pen...it hasnt changed too much, less grass though or it could just be faded out by the light.

That's right. No more elephants (Wanda and Winky) at the Detroit Zoo, and it's for the best.

How would you evaluate this exhibit for the rhinos? I think it would have been substandard for elephants but it's much better for rhinos

@GraysonDP It is an adequate enclosure for white rhinos but nothing that special. I can scarcely imagine how poor it would have been for elephants.

@snowleopard I concur full-heartedly. I wish they could have given them something like the hoofstock have at the zoo. Also, it would have really not been good but keep in mind the Central Florida Zoo was my home zoo growing up so I saw elephants in a 1/10 acre bone dry island surrounded by a concrete moat on a frequent basis. No wonder I love Dallas and North Carolina so much!
